You could say shadows are like filters for the surfaces on which they are cast.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eRugs on the other hand are heavy and still, soft and insulating. A rug has a fixed shape and texture. It has its own volume and aesthetics. Its surface is slightly raised off the floor.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe rug in this space is one possible shadow an object can cast. \"The shadow rug\" is unlike a natural shadow.
